D. S. Young is a writer, copy editor, and certified English teacher who previously worked as a paralegal and medical patent proofreader. She has an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and her essays and poetry have appeared in SPARK Magazine and The Pennon. As a mental health advocate, her goal is to promote a universal dialogue on suicide ideation, addiction, and mental health disorders, all prominent themes from her debut novel, I’ve Seen Those Eyes Before. By sharing her own experiences, she hopes to inspire healing and connection with others, while spreading awareness and ending social stigmas.

A believer of all things metaphysical, Young enjoys automatic writing, meditation, shamanic journeying, past life regression, and practicing yoga. Recent attempts at songwriting have gone undeterred but if she doesn’t succeed in this life, there’s always the next. Currently, she’s working on an experimental memoir about her experience as a child adoptee who found her biological family members as an adult.

Young lives outside of Boston, Massachusetts with her empathic cat and two sons. But after a recent holiday in the UK, her heart belongs to London.
